How was the cover animated? The cover of I've Got Imagination was done with an amazing state-of-the-art process known as Multi-imaging, which causes the characters to appear to move, as if animated! This is how it was done: First, Susan Eaddy, a top, notch illustrator (1998 Nashville Music Award nominee for album artwork of the year), drew a beautiful picture using pastels. Susan's illustration was scanned so that the designer could manipulate the image by computer. Then the graphic designer, Beverly Burge, put in all the graphics, titles and text. Beverly does a lot of designing for Barbie, Jurassic Park and Disney products. A second designer, Johnny Tomanio, animated the image by selecting the arms, wings, feet, tails and other things with we wanted to make "move" and with these "parts" created a second illustration on top of the first. Both images were then sent to the company in Maine that created this animation process. They merged to two images together line-by-line. The cassettes and CDs are in special ridged cases which cause the eye to see only one image at a time. Whenever you tilt the case up or down, the image appears to move but actually your eyes are being led back and forth between the two separate images! It is a lot of fun to play with. As a matter of fact, some adults have admitted to taking the cover to work and playing with it at their desks! |
